Price Erecting President Jason Young is spearheading a military workforce initiative at the company and in the community. As a veteran himself, Young worked his way through the military in both the Marine Corps and Army, leveraging his military skills, work ethic, and connections as he climbed the workforce ranks, eventually taking on the role of President at Price Erecting.
We were honored to accept the Veteran-Friendly Business of the Year award last week from the Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce. We’re committed to providing veterans with the resources to succeed in their career, and proud to support the Chamber’s initiatives across the state.
As an organization, Price Erecting celebrates its ties to the military through serving on the leadership board for the Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce.
Young advocates for young vets to take advantage of the resources they have in the community. “There are more resources now than there ever have been,” said Jason Young. “I would take time to sit in on those continuing education classes, step into the workforce by relying on your chambers, and dealing with the vets at the chamber and in the business community.”
Price Erecting encourages veterans to look into a career in the trades. Knowing what skillsets are established in the military, Young knows to expect greatness from the veteran community. He explains how veterans should reach out, even if they don’t have the exact experience needed.
“We’ve had veterans come in without being a part of the trades or the unions, and have been able to participate in different apprenticeships to train them directly.” said Young. “We take them under our wing.”
As far utilizing the Chamber, Young suggests making networking a big part of a veteran’s approach to joining the workforce.
“It’s about getting your name out there,” said Young. “I’m working on getting Price Erecting’s name out there, by connecting, you’re able to push an initiative and find a commonality. For veterans that are transitioning into the workforce, everyone knows someone who is looking to fill a position or job. It’s a constant connection, and you have to be involved to succeed.” Price Erecting continues its participation in the Veteran’s Chamber by sponsoring the 2019 Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce Business Conference. The May 23rd Conference is aimed at connecting veteran-owned or operated businesses with vets looking for employment and networking opportunities. Register for tickets here.
